Darlington Company sets its Growth in ?Stone? with new jobs
A specialist Darlington company is beginning its period of expansion by creating a number of jobs at its new headquarters in the town.
In January, following around £600,000 worth of investment, Stone Technical Services moved into its new offices on Kellaw Road to allow the company to expand throughout 2009. At 10,000 square feet, the new premises are three times the size of their previous site at Nestfield Industrial Estate.
Thanks to the increased office space, Stone has now announced that it will be creating 6 new positions to add to its 21-strong workforce in Darlington.
For the first time in its ten years in business, Stone will be appointing a dedicated marketing project manager to help the business expand nationwide as demand for it services grows thanks to the launch of the London office last year, which created five new jobs.
Stone specialises in all aspects of high level maintenance, lightning conductor installation and steeplejack services as well as restoration and masonry refurbishment projects on churches, museums, clock towers, castles, spires and historic buildings all over the UK.
Working all over the UK on a variety of high profile buildings such as St Paul’s Cathedral and Selfridges in London and for organisations such as English Heritage and the National Trust, Stone has already this year signed important new contracts with INEOS Plant Utilities and Teesside Power Station and has been appointed to restore parts of Lindisfarne and St Bartholomew’s Church in Northumberland.
Brothers Grahame and Dave Stone, who set up the company in 1998, are dedicated to the ongoing training of their staff who work to NVQ and CITB industry standards.
Dave said: “We are fortunate that our services are in constant demand, despite the recession, as what we do is very specialised. We are now growing more rapidly than we expected and are in the position to be able to create several new jobs in Darlington.
“Our new premises mean that we now have superb facilities and the scope to grow our workforce in Darlington. Also this year we are hoping to expand across the UK and open further regional offices, similar to those in London which have proved extremely beneficial.”
