Stone Reaches for More Work in Tyne and Wear
Darlington-based Stone Technical Services is currently enjoying an ongoing period of growth and has won three new contracts in the North East.
Stone, which specialises in all aspects of high level maintenance, lightning conductor installation and steeplejack services, has been appointed to carry out a major shutdown of the chimney stacks at SRM in Sunderland. SRM is one of the largest companies in Europe handling the disposal of organic waster materials.
In North Tyneside, Stone has won the contract to install lightning protection at Longbenton Community College’s new campus while in Berwick-upon-Tweed, Stone’s specialists will carry out general high level repairs and lightning protection installation at the Swan Sports Centre.
The new deals are worth in the region of £40,000 to Stone, which now employs 24 people and plans to continually grow its workforce throughout 2009 as well as increase its £2 million turnover by 25%.
Stone is also specialises in restoration and masonry refurbishment projects on churches, museums, clock towers, castles, spires and historic buildings all over the UK.
The company works all over the UK on a variety of high profile buildings such as St Paul’s Cathedral and Selfridges in London and for organisations such as English Heritage and the National Trust as well as for well known industrial clients such as INEOS Plant Utilities and Teesside Power Station.
Managing director, Dave Stone said: “Our reputation as leaders in the field of high level maintenances and lightning conductor installation means that we are continually receiving new contracts which are allowing us to grow our operation in Darlington. In addition we are now in talks about launching another regional office to add to our London-based premises.
