Saint Marys Church, Doncaster
Stone Technical Services carried out thousands of pounds worth of work on popular South Yorkshire church to preserve its natural beauty.
St Mary’s Church in Tickhill, near Doncaster, is the village’s main Church of England church and is in the later style of English architecture with a high tower with pinnacles. The interior is ornamented with monuments and contains an altar tomb of William de Estfield, the founder of the church, who died in 1386.
Stone Technical Services worked with conservation architects, Wiles and Maguire in York, and building and conservation experts, A K Bridgett and Son in Doncaster, to carry out repair work to the spire and vital masonry work.
The repairs cost in the region of £25,000 and were funded by English Heritage.
Dave Stone commented: “St Mary’s is a vital hub of the community and we were asked to carry out the repairs thanks to our experience and skill at doing so efficiently with as little disruption to the local area as possible.
“The repairs were essential to ensure its preservation and beauty so that future generations can enjoy the church for years to come.”
